TOOT...TOOT...TOOT..

"Hey mom! What are you doing? Are you busy?" greeted Sara straight once her mom picked up the phone.

"Hey! Just watching drama. Why?" answered mom casually.

Sara replied to her mom that she just wanna talk briefly & if possible ask for help in searching any easy recipe for her last minute assignment given by her lecturer in her mom's collection of cook-books. They exchanged a few sentences and Sara suddenly started pouring out her feelings about her partner for the assignment being uncooperative & leaving her doing almost all the work & how it stresses her out since her group only consisted of two people while others consist of three people per group. Even though the number different is particularly small, the fact that her partner lives outside campus area & a kind of person who do not like to stay back after class to discuss about the assignment really bothers her.

However, mom just replied, "Can't you guys just discuss it over the phone?"

Sara was taken aback. She never thought her mom would only reply that. The thought that mom didn't ask about Sara's feelings really made Sara sad. Sara quickly changed the subject and a minute later, they ended the call.

Later that night, Sara thought about the conversation. The problem with late night thoughts is that you will somehow ended up overthinking stuff. That is just what our sad Sara did. She started off with the conversation she had with her mom over the phone. Was she really not that worth to be listen to? Was her problem is actually easily solved? But if she wanted to do the call conference thingy, it would take up her anxiety level way up high & makes her more uncomfortable. Doesn't mom know that she only calls home or house or just family members. She barely dial other people's number on the phone, especially on her phone. She prefer to write, using the social medias like Twitter and WhatsApp to connect with people.

Than, the thoughts grow and transition to does her family even loved her? Does her family really thought about her? Sara was the eldest child in the family & she had the opportunity to go to boarding school at the right age. However, she felt that since she left for boarding school, she began to become distant from the family & now she's in university, she felt even distant & she feels like when she's home, she is just there as a being. Nothing more than that. She only go to malls when there is errands regarding the university & they never go out just because she wanted to go out & spend time.

Her family basically left her alone in Malaysia since she had lecture classes & went travel abroad without even considering what souvenir she wanted. That actually really hit the spot. She did requested & suggested some vacation time when her semester break was up but the vacation never happen. She cried that night. She really poured her heart out that night.

As she was crying, something decided to pop up & makes things worst. She thought about having someone to depend on, specifically a man. At her age, normally she would have met the man that would support her, give her strength to overcome difficulties & basically keep her sane. Although she knew that the right man would eventually come into her life, she really felt lonely, especially that night.

Then the thought decided to go back to her family. All she wanted was the acknowledgement that she was loved. Something she can cling on. She just wants someone to support her & listen to her. But no one would. They were to busy thinking about their own lives & can't be bothered by her teeny-tiny problem. As the clock ticks & the tears flow, she slowly goes into a deep sleep.

The next morning was the worst morning Sara ever had. Sara was struggling to wake up & prepare herself for that 8.00 am Bio-statistic class. It was a dread but she manages to prep herself for class just in time before the lecture started. However, Sara couldn't concentrate on the lesson & her head was throbbing hard, on and off throughout the class. Then, she decided to just follow the surrounding and get things settled & get her ass back on the bed to rest.

It was a very tiring day for Sara. All just because of that one short phone call.

[THE END]
